“View of the Harlem River” by Daniel Hauben
The Sunday New York Times story is entitled Battered and Beautiful: His Bronx. It’s about Daniel Hauben and the 22 friezes the Bronx Community College commissioned him to paint for their new North Hall and Library. 
A native son of the Bronx, Hauben’s career has been in the borough’s streets “…illuminating the surrounding lush landscapes and working people, infusing them with a touch of whimsy.” (NY Times)

Daniel Hauben met his wife, composer/librettist Judith Lane, at VCCA in 1991.They live in the Bronx with their cats—one of whom is also from VCCA.
