About the Fellowships
VCCA’s Greater Opportunity Fund (previously known as the 50th Anniversary Fund) supports first-time VCCA residencies for artists working in any discipline, with preference given to those who self-identify as people of color. The Greater Opportunity Fellowships are a reflection of VCCA’s ongoing goal to expand our artist residency fellowship program and amplify creative voices that need to be heard. Each year, VCCA will award as many of these fellowships as fundraising support for the Greater Opportunity Fund allows.
Each Greater Opportunity Fellow receives a fully-funded residency of up to two weeks at Mt. San Angelo, VCCA’s artist residency program in the foothills of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains. All VCCA residencies include a private studio, a private bedroom with en-suite bath, three prepared meals each day, and access to a community of more than 20 other artists in residence.
